Hilditch & Sons were making ceramics between 1822-1830.  A purely Georgian manufacturer of earthenwares and porcelain at Lane End in North Staffordshire.

Here we have a fine example with no cracks or chips, and with the H&S stamp mark on the back of the saucer.

The 'H&S' mark in various forms is relatively scarce, making this a very nice and collectable example.

Most designs were printed often in underglaze blue, or in sepia with on glaze enamelled colours ('clobbering').

Fine quality porcelain tea wares were a speciality and reflect the chinoiserie taste of the time.

This charming pattern is called Oriental Musicians and is a Chinoiserie influenced design showing two young figures playing instruments either side of a large vase of flowers with an attendant to one side who is holding a parasol.

The pattern outline is printed in light grey and then hand painted over-glaze in bold bright enamels including a pink lustre, all inside a pink lustre circle around the inner rim.
